오늘은 특별한 감사의 예배를 드리는 날이다.
오늘 우리는 하나님이 명령하신 감사절을 지키고 있다.
우리가 지키는 감사절은 구약에서 하나님이 명령하신 수장절이다.
수장절은 추수를 마치고 곡식을 저장한 후에 지키는 절기다. 그래서 추수감사절이라고 한다.
이 절기는 장막절이라고도 한다.
이는 어려웠던 광야에서 하나님의 은혜로 살았던 것을 함께 감사하는 절기이기 때문이다.
그래서 장막을 만들고 일주일 동안 장막생활을 하면서 매일 감사 예배를 드리고
마지막 날은 절기의 큰 날로 지킨다.
우리의 감사절 예배는 미국의 감사절 때문이 아니라 하나님이 명하신 감사절을 지키는 것이다.
하나님이 자기 백성들에게 감사절기를 제정해 주시고 지키게 하신 데는 두 가지 목적이 있다.
하나는 하나님께 특별한 감사를 드리게 하기 위한 것이고,
다른 하나는 하나님이 주신 은혜를 특별히 즐거워하며 누리라는 것이다.
1. 하나님께 특별한 감사를 드려라.
37절 "이것들은 여호와의 절기라 너희는 공포하여 성회를 삼고 번제와 소제와 희생과 전제를 각각 그 날에 여호와께 화제로 드리라" 하셨다"
* 온 백성이 성회로 모여야 한다.
하나님은 수장절에 온 백성에게 공포하여 성회로 첫 날과 마지막 날 성회로 모이라고 하셨다.
이는 모든 백성이 참여해서 감사의 제사를 드리도록 하기 위한 것이었다.
우리는 평소에 드리는 모든 예배를 감사로 드려야 한다.
그러나 감사절 주일에는 특별한 감사의 예배를 드리기 위해서 전 교인이 다 성회로 모여야 한다.
우리에게도 특별한 날이 필요하다.
자식은 부모에게 항상 효도해야 하지만 부모의 생신때나 특별한 날에는 특별한 효도를 해야 한다.
우리 자신도 매일을 소중한 날로 생각하며 살아야 하지만 그러나 자신에게도 특별한 날이 있다.
생일이나 기념일 같은 날은 특별히 소중히 여기며 지킨다.
하나님은 성회로 모일 때에 아무 노동도 하지 말라고 하셨다.
이는 다른 날과는 특별한 날로 하나님께 감사하는 일에 집중하라고 하신 것이다.
히브리대학 하다르 교수라고 하는 분의 가정을 어느 목사님이 방문하게 되었다.
그 가족들은 저녁 식사 전 한시간 동안 구약 성경공부를 했다. 매일 그렇게 한다고 했다.
장관 보좌관에, 교수에, 박사 논문에 가정 일도 돕고, 매우 바쁜 사람이 어떻게 하루도
빠지지 않고 그렇게 하느냐고 물었더니 다른 것은 다 선택사항이지만
자녀들에게 하나님을 가르치는 것은 생명 자체라고 했다.
그러면서 한 가지 다른 이야기를 들려주었다.
95년도에 자기의 helper 로 있던 아미탈이 새로 된 수상으로부터 장관직을 맡아 달라는 전화를 받았다. 그 때가 마침 대속죄 일이었다. 아미탈은 지금 내게 중요한 것을 장관직을 맡는 문제가 아니라 속죄의 기도를 드리는 것이라며 대화를 거절했다. 물론 그는 나중에 장관직을 맡게 되었다고 한다.
이스라엘 사람들이 이렇게 철저하게 절기를 지키고 성경공부를 하느라고 시간을 다 보내는 것 같지만 그들은 세계 어느 민족보다 유능하고 돈도 잘 벌고 뛰어난 자들이다.
문제는 하나님이 축복하셔야 한다.
* 하나님이 택하신 곳에서 지켜야 한다.
신명기에서는 "네 하나님 여호와께서 택하신 곳에서" 지키라고 하셨다.
하나님께 감사의 제사도, 즐거워하는 것도 그 택하신 곳에서 하라고 하셨다.
이는 바로 주의 성전에 모여서 하나님께 감사하고 그리고 즐거워 하라는 것이다.
성도들의 모든 삶이 성전을 중심해서 이루어져야 하고 모든 관심이 성전에 와 있어야 한다.
이것이 구약에서부터 신약에 이르기까지 하나님이 자기 백성들을 인도해 가시는 원리다.
* 특별한 감사헌금을 드리라고 하셨다.
38절 "이는 여호와의 안식일 외에 너희의 헌물 외에 너희의 모든 서원의 예물 외에 너희의 모든 자원 예물 외에 여호와께 드리는 것이니라"
하나님은 수장절에는 평소에 드리는 예물 외에 특별한 예물을 드리라고 하셨다.
여호와의 안식일에 드리는 헌물이나 다른 모든 서원의 예물이나 자원 예물 외에 드리라고 하셨다.
우리가 평소에 드리는 주정헌금, 십일조, 선교헌금 외에 감사절 헌금은 별도로 드리라고 하신 것이다.
하나님이 주신 복을 따라 힘 대로 드리라 하셨다.
신명기 16:17 “각 사람이 네 하나님 여호와께서 주신 복을 따라 그 힘대로 드릴지니라
감사는 마음으로도 해야 하고 말로도 해야 하고 기도로도 해야 한다.
그러나 감사는 물질로도 해야 한다.
하나님께 감사하는 것에도 표준이 있다. 그 준은 하나님이 주신 복을 따라서 하는 것이다.
많이 받은 사람은 많이 하고, 적게 받은 사람은 그 받은데서 하면 된다.
또한 힘대로 하라고 하셨다.
이는 힘이 없는데 하라는 것이 아니고 하나님이 주신 것에서 힘껏 하라는 말씀이다.
힘이 되는대로 최선을 다해서 드리라는 것이다.
우리는 예물을 준비하면서 하나님께서 나의 예물을 기뻐 받으실 것을 생각하면서
힘과 정성을 다해서 준비해야 한다.
우리는 하나님이 주신 것으로 힘을 다해 드려야 한다.
또한 자원하는 마음으로 드리라고 하셨다.
자원하는 마음으로 드리라는 것은 즐겁게 드리라는 것이다.
인색함으로나 억지로 하지 말지니 하나님은 즐겨 내는 자를 사랑하신다고 하셨다. (고후 9:7)
이 말씀대로 이스라엘 백성들은 수장절에 일년동안 하나님이 주신 소득에 대한 감사뿐 아니라
하나님이 출애굽 하게 하신 일과 광야 생활에 도와주신 은혜 까지를 돌아보면서
감사의 예물을 드렸다.
그러기 위해서 초막을 짓고 일주일 동안을 거기서 살면서 광야 생활 때에 주신 은혜를 생각하였고 매일 제물을 드렸다.
그리고 절기마지막 날인 제 8일은 큰 날로 성회를 모여서 감사 제사를 드리고 그 날의 마지막 중요한 행사는 금주전자에 물을 담아서 제단에 붓는 것이었다.
이 때는 온 백성들이 광야 때에 므리바 반석을 쳐서 샘물을 주신 은혜에 대해서 감사하면서 박수를 치면서 영광을 돌렸다.
이 반석은 곧 예수 그리스도를 가르친 것이며 깨어진 반석에서 생수가 터진 것은 예수님의 육체가 깨어지는 죽음을 통해서 우리에게 성령을 물 붓듯이 부어주실 것을 가르킨 것이다.
이 땅에서 마지막 수장절을 지키시던 그 절기의 끝날, 곧 큰 날에 금주전자에 물을 제단에 붓는 것을 보시면서 예수님은 깨어진 반석에서 나온 생수가 자신의 죽음을 통해서 주실 성령을 가르키신 것을 알게 하시기 위해서 그 순간 큰 소리로 외치셨다.
요한 복음 7:37 “ 명절 끝날 곧 큰 날에 예수께서 서서 외치되 누구든지 목마르거든 내게로 와서 마시라. 나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나리라"
이처럼 우리도 감사절에 드리는 예배는 평소에 드리는 감사의 예배와는 달리 한햇 동안 베풀어 주신 은혜에 대해서 특별한 감사를 드릴뿐 아니라
우리를 이 세상에서 불러내어 예수 그리스도를 믿어 구원받게 하신 은혜에 대해서도 감사해야 하며
우리 인생의 어려웠던 지난 날 광야 생활에서 베풀어 주신 하나님의 모든 은혜를 생각하면서 특별한 감사를 드려야 한다.
2. 하나님 앞에서 특별히 즐거워하라.
40절 "첫 날에는 너희가 아름다운 나무 실과와 종려가지와 무성한 가지와 시내 버들을 취하여 너희 하나님 여호와 앞에서 7일 동안 즐거워 할 것이라"
하나님이 주신 축복은 하나님을 위한 것인 동시에 우리를 위한 것이다.
그러므로 우리는 하나님께 감사한 후에는 우리가 감사함으로 누려야 한다.
우리는 하나님이 주신 것을 기뻐해야 하고 즐거워해야 하고 그리고 만족해 해야 한다.
그럴 때 우리에게 축복해 주신 하나님을 더욱 기쁘시게 하게 된다.
지극히 적은 것을 주셨을 지라도 크게 기뻐하고 즐거워하며 누리는 자는
많이 받고도 누리지 못하는 자보다 훨씬 더 행복한 자가 된다.
* 특별히 네 물산에 복 주신 것을 즐거워하라고 하셨다.
우리가 받은 것 중에 하나님께 받지 않은 것은 아무것도 없다.
우리의 소득이 크든지 적든지 이는 하나님이 주신 것이다.
하나님께서 주신 것은 모든 것이 다 감사의 조건이며 즐거워할 조건이다.
우리는 하나님께 받은 축복을 쉽게 잊어버린다.
그래서 성경은 하나님이 주신 은혜, 승리, 치유, 기적, 같은 것을 기억하라고 하신다.
기적은 하나님이 만들어내신 작품이지 우연이 아니다.
하나님은 기억하라고만 하시지 않고 기념비를 세워서 기억하고 후대에까지 전하라고 하셨다.
그러기 위해 자신이 받은 복을 기록해 보는 것이 좋다.
우리의 일상생활에서 하나님 주신 복을 발견하고 감사하며 즐거워하라.
지금 주어진 삶에서 즐거워하라. 지금 있는 자리에서 즐거워하라.
지금 가진 것에서 즐거워하라. 지금껏 살게 해 주신 은혜에 즐거워하라.
먹을 것과 입을 것을 주신 것을 즐거워하라.
* 네 손을 댄 모든 일에 복 주신 것과 주실 것을 감사하며 즐거워하라.
우리는 물산의 복, 즉 물질적인 것만 아니라 우리가 손으로 하는 모든 수고,
우리 손을 댄 모든 것에 하나님이 복 주신 것을 즐거워하라.
우리 손을 댄 모든 것이 무엇인가?
우리 손으로 일을 하고, 우리 손으로 운전을 하고, 우리 손으로 음식도 만들고,
우리 손으로 의사표시도 하고, 우리 손으로 형제를 어루만져 위로하기도 한다.
돌이켜 보면 정말 우리가 손을 댄 모든 것에 하나님이 복을 주셨다.
또한 앞으로 더 주실 것이다.
경제적 수확만 아니라 우리의 손을 댄 모든 일에 복주신 것을 감사하며 즐거워하라.
* 이웃과 함께 즐거워 하라.
신명기 16:14 "절기를 지킬 때에는 너와 네 자녀와 노비와 네 성중에 거하는 레위인과 객과 고아와 과부가 함께 연락하되 "
하나님이 축복하신 것은 우리만 누리라고 주신 것이 아니다.
이웃과 함께 누리라고 주신 것이다.
그래서 너와 네 자녀와 노비와 함께 누리라고 하셨다.
이 말은 오늘 사업주는 고용인과 함께 누리라는 말과 같은 것이다.
그 뿐 아니다. 네 성중에 있는 레위인과도 함께 누리라고 했다.
레위인들은 성전을 위하여 봉사하는 자들이다.
레위인들은 자기의 분복이 땅이 아니오 그 성중에 있는 백성들이기 때문에
레위인은 추수해서 거두는 것이 없지만 대신 성중에 있는 사람들이 거두는 것을
함께 레위인과 누리는 특권을 주셨다.
이 말을 오늘 우리들에게 적용하면 주의 종들과 함께 누리라는 말이다.
그 뿐 아니다.
너희 중에 있는 객과 고아와 과부와 함께 누리라고 하셨다.
이는 가난하고 어려운 사람들과 함께 누리라는 것이다.
누리되 그들과 함께 연락하라고 하셨다.
그들과 함께 즐거워하면서 기뻐하면서 누려야 한다.
우리가 추수감사절을 하나님의 말씀대로 바로 지키려면 하나님이 말씀하신
이웃들을 초대하고 함께 하나님께 감사하며 함께 즐거워하며 누려야 한다.
여러분 주변에 어려운 사람, 외로운 사람이 있는 가를 살펴보고 초대해서 함께 감사절을 지킬수 있기 바란다.
* “7일 동안 즐거워 하라” 고 하셨다.
신명기에서는 “온전히 즐거워하라” 고 하셨다.
여러분, 우리가 7일 동안 여기 우리 하나님 앞에서 모여 온전히 즐거워하면 무슨 일이 생길가?
아마 큰 기적이 일어날 것이다.
눈에 보이는 기적만 아니라 즐거움이 우리의 습관이 되고 성품화 될 것이다.
왜 그렇게 하셨을가? 왜 다른 절기보다 특별히 수장절에는 즐거워하라, 온전히 즐거워하라.
7일 동안 즐거워하라! 고 하셨을가?
감사절은 영적축복도 내포되어 있기 때문이다.
이는 수장절이 예수님의 재림으로 이루어질 영원한 안식, 기쁨과 의와 평화가 넘치는
메시야 왕국을 예표하는 절기이기 때문이다.
우리 주님 영광의 왕으로 오시고 다윗의 보좌에 앉으셔서 다스리며 공의 가 하수같이 흐르고 평화가 넘치는 새 시대를 우리는 내다보면서 마음껏 즐거워 하는 것이다.
감사절은 단순히 물산에 축복을 주신 것이나
우리 손을 댄것에 복주신 것만을 인하여서가 아니라
앞으로 얻게 될 영원한 축복을 내다보며 우리는 감사하고 즐거워하고 온전히 즐거워해야 한다.
* 특별한 감사에는 특별한 은혜가 있다.
하나님을 기쁘시게 하며 영화롭게 한다.
시 50 :23 “감사로 제사를 드리는 자가 나를 영화롭게 하느니라”
감사는 할수록 더 누리게 된다.
감사하지 않는 자는 가진 것도 누리지 못한다.
자기가 가진 것이 얼마나 좋은 것인지, 얼마나 큰 축복인지 알지 못하고 누리지도 못한다.
그러나 감사하는 자는 자기의 가진 것이 얼마나 귀중한 것을 알고 자기가 받은 축복이 얼마나 큰 것인지를 알고 누릴수 있게 된다.
감사는 할수록 더 풍성해 진다.
하나님이 주신 축복은 감사할수록 더 많이 누릴 수 있게 해 주시고
이웃과 나눌수록 더 많이 나눌 수 있게 해 주신다.
감사가 감사를 낳는다.
작은 것에 감사하는 자에게 더 큰 것을 주신다.
오늘 주신 은혜에 감사하며 즐거워하는 자에게 내일 감사할 일을 더 주신다.
눈에 보이는 것을 감사하며 즐거워하는 자에게 영원한 축복을 주신다.
여러분, 이 한 해도 하나님의 은혜로 산 것을 믿는가?
하나님께 특별한 감사를 드리기 바란다.
하나님 앞에서 특별한 즐거움을 누리시기 바란다.
Title: Worship the LORD with a Grateful Heart!
Scripture: Leviticus 23: 33-44
“Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD. On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work. These are the appointed times of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the LORD— burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each day’s matter on its own day— besides those of the sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts and besides all your votive and freewill offerings, which you give to the LORD.
‘On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the LORD for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day. Now on the first day, you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the LORD for seven days of the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’ So Moses declared to the sons of Israel the appointed times of the LORD.” (New American Standard Bible)
Today is the day for a worship of special thanks to the LORD. Today, we are following God’s commandment to give special thanks to the LORD. The worship of thanksgiving we are given today represents the Sabbath day God commanded in the Old Testament. In Old Testament, this festival was held after the harvesting the grains for the year and stacking them up in the storage. That’s why it’s called Thanksgiving Day. This day is also called the feast of Tabernacle. This was the time to thank the LORD for God’s grace during the difficult time in the wilderness. So Israelites made a tabernacle and spent a week in the tabernacle, giving thanks to the LORD every day. The last day of the seven days is a big day.
Our Thanksgiving worship is not just to celebrate a Holiday of United States. It’s to celebrate the feast of the LORD giving thanks as God commanded. There are two reasons why God commanded His people to celebrate and give thanks during the Thanksgiving feast of the LORD. One reason is to give thanks to the LORD and the other reason is to remember and rejoice the grace of the LORD.
1. Give special thanks to the LORD!
Verse 37: “ ‘These are the appointed times of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the LORD— burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each day’s matter on its own day—’ ”
* All the people must gather in the synagogue.
God commanded to declare all the people on the Festival Day to gather on the first day and the last day in the holy place. It was to have all the people to participate in the sacrifice of thanksgiving. We should always worship the LORD with a thankful heart. However, during the Thanksgiving Service, everyone should be gathered in the sanctuary to worship the LORD.
The Thanksgiving Service was set to give special thanks to the LORD. All children should love and take care of their parents well but on the parents’ birthdays, the children should especially give thanks to their parents. We all have special days that we celebrate such as our birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and such. God said that when we gather to the sanctuary, we shouldn’t be working on that day. This is the day we should only focus on the giving thanks to the LORD.
A pastor visited the family of Hadar who is a professor at a Hebrew University. The family studied the Old Testament for an hour before dinner every day. The pastor asked the professor Hadar how he does that with his family every day with his assistant minister position, being a professor, writing his doctor’s thesis, and helping his family. The professor Hadar answered that all other things are optional whereas teaching his children about God is a matter of life and death.
Then the professor told the pastor one story. Amital, who was his helper in 1995 received a call from the new prime minister to take over the ministerial position. It was the day of the Atonement. Amitall rejected the call because it was the day of Atonement. He said that his day of Atonement is more important than a ministerial position. He later became the minister.
It seems that the Israelites spend so much time to keeping the feast of the LORD and studying the Bible. However, they are one of the most successful and wealthy people in the world. It’s under God’s authority whether someone is successful and wealthy or not.
* You must stay where God has chosen for you.
“…at the place where the LORD your God chooses to establish His name, you shall sacrifice the Passover…” (Deuteronomy 16:6, NASB)
We shall give sacrifices of thanksgiving at the place God chooses. We should obey God’s command to us at the place God chooses for us. In other words, we should gather at the house of the LORD, our sanctuary, to give thanks to the LORD and to rejoice in the LORD. All lives of saints should be centered around the house the LORD. The hearts of all saints should be always directed to the house of the LORD. From the Old Testament to New Testament, the LORD has led His people through the house of LORD.
*The LORD commanded to give a special offering to the LORD
Verse 38: “besides those of the sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts and besides all your votive and freewill offerings, which you give to the LORD.” (NASB)
God commanded us to give a special offering during the feast of the LORD besides the offerings we give on any other Sundays. In addition to regular offerings, tithes, and missionary offerings, God commanded us to give a special Thanksgiving offerings on the day of the feast of the LORD. We should give according to the blessing God has given us.
“Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you.” (Deuteronomy 16:17, NASB)
The thanksgiving offering should be given with grateful heart to the LORD as we are thanking the LORD with our lips and our prayers. The amount we give to the LORD is according to the blessing God has given us. The ones who are greatly blessed should be given more and the ones who received little should give accordingly. Also, we should give according to our ability. God is not trying to burden us to give more than what we are able to. We should give the best we can with a thankful and joyful heart. As we prepare our offerings, our heart, mind, and souls should be filled with the joy of the LORD. We should prepare the offering joyfully wanting to give the LORD the best of what you have.
“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7, NASB)
Following God’s command, Israelites gave offering to thank the LORD for blessing them for that year. Not only that but they thanked the LORD for saving them from the hands of slave drivers in Egypt and taking care them in the wilderness. They built a tabernacle and lived in that tabernacle for seven days giving offering each day thanking the LORD for taking care of them when they were in the wilderness.
After that, on the eighth day, everyone gathered at the Holy Place and they gave the sacrifice of thanksgiving. They pour water on the altar from a golden kettle. It’s to thank the LORD for giving them water in the wilderness of Zin when Moses hit the Meribah rock (Numbers 20:1-13). The rock represents Jesus. The rock being broken to pour out water represents the Holy Spirit being poured out to us after Jesus’ body has been torn and died. During the last feast of the LORD, Jesus saw the water being poured into the Holy Place from the golden kettle on the eighth day. Jesus wanted the disciples to know that the water from the Meribah rock represented the Holy Spirit that will be pouring out to them through Jesus’s death.
“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.’ “ (John 7:37, NASB)
When we have a Thanksgiving Service, we should thank the LORD for the grace He has given us during that year. We should thank the LORD for calling us to be God’s children and saving us. We should give special thanks to the LORD for the grace He gave us during our lives in the wilderness and saving us from the wilderness.
2. Rejoice in the LORD!
Verse 40: “Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.”
The blessing God gives us is for us but it’s also God’s will to bless us. After thanking the LORD for the blessing He gave us, we should rejoice and enjoy the blessing God gave us with a grateful heart. We have to learn to rejoice, enjoy, and be content with what God gives us. It’s pleasing to the LORD for Him to see us enjoying the blessing He gave us. The one who rejoices and is thankful for a small blessing is the more blessed person than the one who has received so much but doesn’t know how to be thankful.
*God said we should especially rejoice in things God has blessed us.
There is nothing we have that didn’t come from the LORD. Whether we have a lot or a little, it’s from the LORD. We should thank the LORD because it’s from the LORD. We easily forget what we receive from the LORD. That’s the reason why the Bible reminds us to not forget the grace, victory, healing, and miracle of the LORD. Miracles are the works of the LORD. God did not just remind us to remember all of God’s works but to make a monument to remember them and tell the descents about them. It would be a good idea to make a list of things that God has blessed us in our lives.
Thank the LORD for giving us food and clothing!
*Thank the LORD for blessing all things that we touched!
We should thank the LORD not just for things He gave us but we should thank Him for our labor as well. Rejoice that God blesses everything we touch. What are all things that we touched? Working at our jobs, driving, making foods for our families, expressing ourselves, and comforting our neighbors are all things we touch. God blesses all we things we touch. God will bless us more in the future. We should thank the LORD not just for the income but also for all other big and little things that the LORD blesses us.
*Rejoice with your neighbors.
“And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your towns.” (Deuteronomy 16:14, NASB)
The blessing God gives us is not just for us. It’s to be shared with our neighbors. Bible said to share it with the children and slaves. In the modern world, the owner of the business should share it with the employees. That's not all. We were told to share with the Levites in the city. Levites are the one who serves in the sanctuaries. Because the Levites do not own any lands and they belong to the people of the city, the people of the city share what they collect from their lands with the Levites. In the modern world, pastors are Levites. God also said that we should share with orphans and widows. We should share with the people in need. It’s to get them involve in our lives to share and enjoy what we have. If we want to live our lives according to God’s Words, we should invite our neighbors. We should rejoice and give thanks to the LORD with them. Find someone who is alone or going through a hardship, invite him over to enjoy the Thanksgiving with your family!
* The Bible said, “Rejoice for seven days!”
In Deuteronomy, it said, “Rejoice completely!” What do you think it would happen if we stay here for seven days to just to rejoice in the LORD? I think we’ll experience a miracle. I think God’s joy will fill us and the joy will become a part of our personality.
Why do you think God told them to especially rejoice completely during the feast of the LORD? Why do you think God told them to rejoice for seven days? The feast of thanksgiving of the LORD also represents a blessing to our souls. The feast of the LORD represents eternal rest, joy, peace, and righteousness. It’s the celebration of the Kingdom of Messiah. Our LORD will come as the King and will seat in the throne of king David. Righteousness will flow like a river. Peace will overflow. We can rejoice without holding back because we live looking forward to all that. That’s what we should rejoice about.

Giving thanks to the LORD pleases Him and glorifies Him.
“He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23)
More you give thanks, more you experience thankful heart. The ones who do not know how to be thankful cannot enjoy what they have. They don’t know the value of the blessings they receive and have. Therefore, they cannot enjoy them. The ones who are thankful for what they have to know the value of what they have and they can enjoy what they have.
Thankful hearts bring abundance. The blessings God gave us become abundance as we give thanks to the LORD. As we share what we have with our neighbors, we can enjoy the abundance of our blessings. A thanksgiving leads to more things to be thankful about. God gives big things to those who are thankful for little things. The ones who are thankful for the grace received today will be given more things to be grateful for tomorrow. The ones who are thankful for the thing they see will be blessed eternally.
