In order to serve joyfully and faithfully until we meet Jesus, we need to remember 3 types of grace:
1) Saving grace
2) Sustaining grace
3) Grace that allows us to serve
1) The saving grace of God is what Paul received on his way to Damascus. It’s the saving grace of God that we need to receive and remember always in order to serve joyfully and faithfully. Grace is God’s riches at Christ’s expense. Everything good that we have is because Jesus paid for it. That’s why we have salvation. We need to constantly look at Jesus’ work and not ours.
2) The sustaining grace of God is what Paul relied on daily in His ministry. Everyone has those days where they feel as though they can’t make it through. God’s promise is always that He will give us the grace to get through the day. God’s grace to us in the past is a prophecy to us that there will be grace in the future.
3) When God called Saul/Paul to be a preacher to the Gentiles, there was nothing faithful about Him. But when God looked at him, he considered him trustworthy to serve His kingdom when no one else would. If we are serving God in any way, it’s because He considers us trustworthy to serve Him. This is a grace that Paul knew and never forgot.
